Our proposals include the demolition of the existing three-bedroom property and the construction of a new five-bedroom replacement dwelling. The existing building is of little architectural merit and the new proposals will enhance the character of the area, which is currently diverse in style.
We are proposing a contemporary design with rendered self-cleaning external walls, timber cladding and a slate/stone plinth. The design makes the most of the site which gives dramatic views of the South Downs. The proposed flat roof minimises the bulk of the building and ensures that its scale is in keeping with its surroundings.
The levels have also been carefully considered to minimise the scale and bulk of the building and reduce the impact on neighbouring properties. The proposals create an interesting new dwelling that sits comfortably within the context of the street, which largely consists of three storey buildings.
The proposed house will utilise an air source heat pump and heat recovery system to minimise long-term energy consumption. The dwelling will also be carefully detailed so that all U-values will exceed those required under the current Building Regulations. (U-values are measures of heat loss in all the various elements of a building).
